Hotel Zoo Berlin Debuts Rooftop Terrace

Hotel Zoo Berlin Rooftop Terrace

Hotel Zoo Berlin’s new rooftop terrace recently opened this month, offering an open-air lounge setting with views of the West Berlin skyline.

The new space was designed by Dayna Lee of New York and LA-based design studio Powerstrip Studio. The terrace, an extension of the hotel's Grace Bar & Restaurant, has stylish lounge furniture, fire pits and decorative greenery including bamboo, grass, and wisteria. Live DJ sets and a diverse cocktail list are also on offer.

The 100-cover lounge and bar area has teakwood loungers and ottomans accented by stone-gray cushions, low-slung tables and violet, plush furnishings. A water feature, collection of lanterns, and a large open fireplace are meant to create a warm atmosphere, along with a vertical garden behind the bar and clusters of greenery. Oversized letters of the Hotel Zoo logo, which can be seen from the well-known Kurfürstendamm below, aims to mimic “old-time Hollywood glamor”.

The terrace offers a 270-degree panoramic view of the cityscape and is surrounded by wrap-around glass to protect against the wind. Awning and sun umbrellas provide shade during the day while heaters and soft throws are available during cooler summer evenings. Throughout the season, special events will include BBQs with entertainment provided by some of the city’s top DJs.

Hotel Zoo Berlin re-launched in 2014 after a two-year renovation, and since then has become a popular location for visitors interested in fashion, film, and media.
