Located 18 miles off the coast of Mozambique, the Bazaruto Archipelago is a protected marine reserve and national park in the Indian Ocean. Bazaruto is the largest of these islands, ringed by sandy beaches and turquoise waters. It’s against this otherworldly backdrop that the Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort offers guests the chance to swim with dolphins, experience the annual humpback whale migration (July to October), go horseback riding on the beach, sail on a traditional wooden dhow and dive into the culture of Mozambique.
In recent news, the Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort has just unveiled a renovation of its beach villas. The design was inspired by African culture and Mozambique’s aquatic world; think traditional Capulana fabrics and large photographs of marine life. The refurbishment adds new contemporary furniture, mood lighting, and bathrooms with sunken tubs and outdoor showers. What’s more, seven of the beach villas have been transformed into beach pool villas, each equipped with a private plunge pool and furnished deck overlooking the Indian Ocean. The outdoor living area was designed for dining with water views.
Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort also renovated Golfinho, the main restaurant, which is open for breakfast and dinner. The color palette of blue, grey and white reflects the Indian Ocean, while new touches include the terrazzo floor tiles, polished concrete countertops and antique mirrors. (Other dining outlets include Tartaruga for fresh seafood under the stars and Club Naval for poolside bites.)
