Aman Introduces Janu, a New Lifestyle Brand

Big news in the luxury hotel space: Aman is launching a sister brand, Janu. Announced Tuesday night in New York City in front of select media, travel advisor partners and guests by Aman Chairman and CEO Vladislav Doronin, Janu aims to be the “yang” to Aman’s “yin.”

In Sanskrit, Aman means “peace” and Janu means “soul.” The idea is that, playing to the “is duality in all of life,” while Aman aims to be a sanctuary, Janu will offer connectedness and an energetic vibe. Three of Janu’s pillars will be “human interaction, playful expression and social wellness.” As Doronin put it, Janu “is a space between Aman on one side and the lifestyle brands on the other.” All in all, the concept for Janu has been in the works for two years as Aman underwent research and development.

Janu will launch with three hotels in 2022, which are already under construction: Montenegro, Al Ula in Saudi Arabia and Tokyo, as well as a robust pipeline of future hotels. Janu Montenegro will be the first hotel to incorporate the brands serviced residence concept.

Much like Aman, the design of each Janu property will be contemporary. Social spaces will be a mix of dining, lounge and bar areas. Guests can expect such culinary concepts such as low-temperature cooking or employing the benefits of fermentation; open kitchens and countertop displays add to the sense of energy and socializing.

As for wellness, there will of course be plenty of energetic group classes. Wellness facilities will offer “cutting-edge experiences and treatments” as well as the latest equipment and extensive hydro and thermal facilities.

The Aman brand currently has 32 hotels in 20 countries, plus nine under construction.
