Anantara Iko Mauritius Resort & Villas Is Now Open

When you think of Mauritius, the island nation in the Indian Ocean, do you think of powdery beaches and crystal clear waters? Waterfront resorts that are all about barefoot luxury? Beyond its scenery, this multi-ethnic island is also endowed with rich culture and a wide variety of flora and fauna. It’s in this vacation paradise that Bangkok-based Anantara Hotels & Resorts has recently opened a new property— the brand’s first on Mauritius. Situated on the island’s southeast coast, Anantara Iko Mauritius Resort & Villas is part of a coastal development near Blue Bay Marine Park, a leisure destination known for snorkeling and diving in a protected marine park.

Following the Anantara philosophy of “authentic luxury,” the resort aims to immerse guests in traditional Mauritian culture with curated experiences like excursions to tea plantations and rum distilleries, cooking classes to learn about Creole cuisine, hikes in La Vallée de Ferney, zip-lining through the forest at Le Domaine de l’Etoile, and guided tours of nearby Mahébourg. The resort's architectural design takes its cue from the island’s colonial style, incorporating local materials like basalt, volcanic stone, and driftwood.

There are 164 guest rooms, overlooking either Le Chaland Beach or the lush gardens. The Ocean View Suite category comes with a balcony for taking in the views. Facilities include the Anantara Spa with traditional hammam and outdoor Thai massage pavilions, 100-foot-long swimming pool, specialty restaurants, and Kids Club. To celebrate its debut, the beach resort is rolling out a special opening offer with savings of up to 40 percent off.
