Announcing the Anantara Mauritius Resort

Fans of Anantara will be pleased as Punch about a new resort development in Mauritius. The Bangkok-based luxury hospitality brand has just announced the Anantara Mauritius Resort, which is slated to open at the end of 2019. This will be the first Anantara resort on Mauritius. This island-nation in the Indian Ocean is celebrated for its white, sandy beaches, multicultural society and abundant flora and fauna. (Fun fact: Mauritius was the only known home of the now-extinct dodo bird.)

Located on the island’s southeastern shore, Anantara Mauritius Resort will be part of a coastal development near Blue Bay Marine Park, a leisure destination known for snorkeling and diving in a protected marine park. The resort design will celebrate the cultural history of the country and will highlight locally sourced materials like driftwood, basalt, and volcanic stone. There will be 164 guest rooms and suites, with pool villas to follow in 2020. Facilities will include a signature Anantara Spa, a 100-foot-long swimming pool, and a Kids Club.

Multiple dining outlets will showcase a rich variety of international influences. Think traditional creole cuisine, a wellness-focused cafe, private dining with a wine cellar, and Sea.Fire.Salt, a grill and seafood restaurant. Keeping in line with Anantara’s focus on sustainability, the resort will incorporate a number of green initiatives (solar water heating, organic produce in the kitchen, reusing water for irrigation).

Channeling “authentic luxury,” Anantara currently operates 38 properties in diverse geographical settings around the world including Thailand, the Maldives, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Mozambique, Zambia, the UAE, Qatar, Oman and Portugal.
