Bodyholiday Welcomes Resident Yoga Instructor, Hosts Olympic Athletes

BodyHoliday has announced the appointment of Alisha Smith as the resort’s new resident yoga instructor. In her new role at BodyHoliday, Smith will teach group and private yoga classes including SUP (stand-up paddleboard), ashtanga, gentle yin and energizing vinyasa flow, as well as meditation and reiki.

A time-honored approach to a healthy body and mind, yoga is an integral part of the all-inclusive experience at BodyHoliday. Guests can participate in a variety of yoga classes each day, from ashtanga to vinyasa, run by highly-practiced teachers, including Smith. The group classes have been designed to enhance flexibility, muscle tone and balance, while the personalized classes focus on more specific needs from digestive health to pre-natal care.       

BodyHoliday additionally announced its new 2019 Theme Months. Offering special programs for guests throughout the year, Theme Months at BodyHoliday, which are led by Olympic medalists and award-winning athletes, focus on various activities including yoga, swimming, dancing and sailing.

BodyHoliday’s Theme Months will take place over the following sets of dates:

  • WellFit Families: July 6 - September 1, 2019 
  • September Solos: September 1-29, 2019
  • Octoba Yoga: September 29 - October 27, 2019
  • WellFit: November 4-17, 2019
  • SwimFit: November 5-8, 2019
  • Pre-Christmas Restorative Break: December 1-21, 2019      

Launching this summer and running through early fall, WellFit Families is set to bring family bonding time to a whole new level. Guests will enjoy a fusion of hands-on activities like healthy cooking and first aid classes, and adventure activities such as dolphin watching and snorkeling to the Pitons. Leading activities throughout the summer will be Donna Fraser, a four-time Olympian runner; Kyran Bracken, a member of the 2003 World Cup winning rugby team; Zara Dampney, who debuted on the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball tour in 2009; Jamie Baulch, an Olympic sprinter; and Michael Jamieson, an Olympic swimmer.

September Solos is an ideal program for travelers looking to spend time away from the stressors of daily life and discover their personal definition of wellness. Throughout the month, guests can explore the property with a customized itinerary featuring spa treatments and fitness classes in addition to group activities such as a sunset cruise. Leading a portion of the month's program is Anthony Lynch, CEO of EDUFIT, an innovative online learning platform. 

Octoba Yoga will offer both expert and novice yogis countless lessons throughout the resort from sunrise to sunset. The program will offer classes in hatha, ashtanga, shanthi and katti yoga as well as an array of special massages and therapeutic treatments at The Wellness Centre to provide a well-rounded, holistic experience.      

Kicking off winter, WellFit brings Olympians Keri-anne Payne and David Carry to BodyHoliday, for guests who want to transform their body during an intensive, tailored two-week boot camp. Activities include beach fitness training and nutrition seminars. During that same timeframe, Keri-anne and David will also host SwimFit, offering guests the opportunity to be individually coached by two of the best swimmers in the world. The program includes swimming lessons and a swim technique video analysis.

Wrapping up the year, the Pre-Christmas Restorative Break was designed by leading health experts to provide guests with the knowledge to incorporate wellness into their everyday lives. Leading activities throughout the month will be Jamie Baulch, an Olympic sprinter, and Colin Jackson, an Olympic hurdler.
