Keswick Hall has long welcomed visitors to a countryside retreat in the rolling, vineyard-covered hills of Virginia’s Piedmont outside Charlottesville. Situated near Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, the 600-acre estate offers a number of recreational facilities like tennis courts, golf, and a spa with a beautiful backdrop. And come autumn 2020, Keswick Hall will be showing off a completely new look when it reopens after a renovation and expansion. One of the most exciting new additions will be the signature restaurant run by famous chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. This will be the first venture in Virginia for Vongerichten, who will create a menu devised from organic ingredients from local, family-owned farms.
When Keswick Hall reopens, it will show off 80 guestrooms and suites designed with hardwood, classic fabrics, and Duxiana mattresses. The bath amenities, by the New York-based Red Flower brand, will have a custom scent exclusive to the hotel. The top digs will be the two-bedroom Presidential Suite.
Another highlight will be the landscaping by the architects Nelson Byrd Woltz. Expect walking paths through vegetation that’s all native to the Virginia landscape. The beautiful estate panoramas will be visible from the infinity pool, a striking centerpiece to the new pool pavilion and cabana area. Also expect a reimagined ballroom and outdoor venue space catering to Blue Ridge weddings. The new natural amphitheater will overlook the picturesque Virginia countryside.
