Discover Gleneagles Programs to Teach Guests Golf, Fishing, More

Gleneagles launched a new program designed to teach guests new skills as they stay at the Scotland estate. Discover Gleneagles’ packages, all covering two nights’ accommodation in a Classic Room, include classes on golfing, horse riding, fishing and shooting.

Led by Gleneagles’ head PGA professional Andrew Jowett, the golfing class includes seven hours of one-on-one beginners’ instruction with one of the hotel’s pros. As part of the package, participants have unlimited access to the property’s nine-hole Wee Course and a set of clubs for the duration of the stay.

Equestrian manager Michelle Kenny leads Gleneagles’ horse riding program. With three offerings divided based on experience, guests can learn everything from learning to mount and holding the reins to cross country jumping and advanced dressage. Participants receive six sessions of 45 minutes with one of the resort’s equestrian coaches.

Gleneagles’ provides two fishing spots, Laich Loch and Balloch Loch, well-stocked with wild and reared brown trout. Its fishing program includes, in addition to four hours of instruction, three hours of guided fishing at one of these lochs. Any fish guests catch can be packaged and taken home or cooked and served that evening by the Gleneagles chefs.

The property’s Shooting School hosts one of Scotland’s top clay target shooting facilities. Led by Alan Dickson, the property’s shooting and fishing school manager, the educational program offers an introduction of shooting and one and a half hours of shooting coaching. After these lessons, guests have two hours of shooting range practice.
