Fairmont Debuts in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, anyone? If you had no desire to go there before, you may want to check it out now, as the destination is starting to hum with luxury buzz. Most recently, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts debuted Fairmont Baku, Flame Towers, the luxury brand's first development in Azerbaijain.

Fairmont Baku likes in one of the three Flame Towers (the tallest building complex in the country). The 36-floor hotel opens initially with 140 rooms and suites, but eventually will have 318 guest rooms, suites and apartments, all with views of Baku, the old Inner City or the Caspian Sea. 

Best room in the house: Suites range from one bedroom, at 1,076 square feet; the 1,291-square-foot Caspian Sea Suite (think double height windows); to the Royal Two Bedroom Suite with 4,036 square feet of space and lofted ceilings. 

Several restaurants and bars are on site including a French patisserie and specialty steakhouse.
