Hot Hotels: The Silo to Open in Cape Town in March

The talk of Cape Town is the new Silo hotel, set to debut in March 2017. The highly anticipated hotel sits atop what will be the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA). (The Silo’s official website notes that when the museum opens in September 2017, it will rival “the likes of the Tate Modern in London and MoMA in New York.”) With 360 degree views over Cape Town’s V&A waterfront, The Silo is being built inside the grain elevator of the historic silo complex.

In-demand designer Liz Biden has waved her wand over the interiors; there will be just 28 individually-decorated guestrooms, including The Penthouse on the top floor—equipped with a 258-square-foot balcony facing Table Mountain. Facilities will include the Silo Spa, a rooftop swimming pool, a gym, and a number of F&B outlets including  the Granary Café, the Willaston Bar, the Sky Terrace, and a rooftop restaurant.

The Silo is a member of the Royal Portfolio, which also includes the Royal Malewane (Greater Kruger National Park), Birkenhead House (Hermanus), and La Residence (Franschhoek).
