Conrad New York isn’t slated to open in Battery Park until late this year, but we know who the general manager will be when it does: Robert Rechtermann. The hotel, which is being converted from an Embassy Suites, is undergoing a significant renovation program. Rechtermann has spent more than 25 years in the hospitality industry, the last five as general manager of The Peninsula New York.

The Stafford London by Kempinski has announced that Leon Baum will succeed Stuart Procter as general manager. Prior to the promotion, Baum served as the hotel’s resident manager overseeing daily hotel operations. He’s also worked at London’s Dukes Hotel. Procter is leaving the hotel after a six-year stint to work on an undisclosed new hotel project.

Banyan Tree Macau is set to open May 15 as part of the Galaxy Macau. The hotel will feature private indoor relaxation pools in all 246 suites. Top Choice: the 7,212-square-foot, split-level Presidential Suite. Travel advisors can contact Regional Director of Marketing David Woodward
