So you book an early flight for your vacation with the hopes of getting to your destination as soon as possible to enjoy maximum fun, only to arrive at your hotel before 3 p.m. to learn that your room isn't ready yet. Talk about a screeching halt.
We hear that Fairmont is looking to combat the early arrival blues with online check-in/-out, available exclusively to members of Fairmont President's Club and guests of Fairmont Gold. The new service will let guests check-in via laptop, smartphone or any other web-connected device and pick up their room key before settling in.
Before they arrive, members will receive an "I'm On My Way" email with an invitation to check-in online at Fairmont hotels in North America. Guests can choose to provide their arrival time and method of transport, and when their room is prepared they will receive a "Your Room is Ready" email. An "Easy Departure" email works the same way for check-out.
The program will frusta be rolled out in North America and will continue to expand throughout 2012.
