Introducing Jakes Hotel’s Seaweed Luxury Villa

Jakes Hotel has announced that it is slated to open its doors come November 1. Set in the seaside fishing village of Treasure Beach on Jamaica’s south coast, Jakes is a boutique resort boasting cottages within the grounds and bespoke villas nearby.

Seaweed Luxury Villa, with its 270 degree views of the ocean, becomes the latest member of Jakes’ villa collection which currently includes Calabash Bay Villa (and Calabash Cottage) on the doorstep of Jakes, and Hope House in the locale of Old Wharf.

Painted in hues of turquoises and sea greens to evoke the surrounding Caribbean Sea are a four bedroom main villa and two bedroom sister villa. They have what was described as “an organically motivated design”, with the interiors of featuring Caribbean colors with dark woods and organic furnishings locally made by Island Art Jamaica. Other features include: mosaic tiles, shell adornments and colored bottles worked into walls.

There is a sixth basement games room/bedroom which includes four queen size beds (the perfect dorm room for kids), two pull out sofas, full bathroom with shower, large screen TV, pool table and bar- over two buildings. Each room, with its ensuite bathroom, incorporate an outdoor shower or deep bathtub and a private veranda facing the ocean.

Also available are: a gym with steam shower; an outdoor grill; and outdoor bar; and a facility for kayaks, snorkeling equipment and boogie boards.

Luxury Villa Seaweed has been architecturally designed with eco-friendly features, including: solar hot water, provisions for wind generated power, LED lighting, day lighting, use of natural and local materials, extensive use of reclaimed lumber, concrete counter tops, natural river stone, rainwater harvesting, recycling gray water to irrigation, and use of local and adaptive landscaping.
