LaLiT London Added to Small Luxury Hotels of the World

The LaLiT London is the newest addition to Small Luxury Hotels of the World’s collection. The hotel opened earlier this year and is the first overseas property for the for New Delhi-based hotel company.

After a five-year renovation, the 70-room luxury boutique hotel was built in the early 19th century and originally served as St. Olave’s Grammar School. The former teacher’s and headmaster’s rooms have been transformed into two bars.

The company’s India roots are ever-present in the great hall’s pan-Indian restaurant. Authentic cuisine from around the country is offered including Kashmir, Bengal, Kerala and Goa. Also of note at the restaurant is a naanery where guests can enjoy wine paired with traditional breads prepared in the tandoor and an outdoor shisha terrace. High chai afternoon tea as well as two other tea options are served.

Each room offers a local cell phone so that guests are able to get around the city and stay connected when not on Wi-Fi or international data. Rooms are housed in the former classrooms and range from the Cosy Classroom that sleeps one person to the Lalit Legacy Suite that sleeps five people with three connecting rooms made up of two senior suites and a Cosy Classroom.

The hotel’s spa, Rejuve, offers one of the only Ayurvedic treatment tables in London and provides treatments including Shirodhara, where a continuous stream of warm medicated oil is poured over the forehead. According to the company, the treatment is used to improve memory, regularize sleep and normalize blood pressure.

The LaLiT Hotels owns 17 luxury properties, 11 currently open and six currently under construction. The company also offers mid-grade hotel under that brand “The Lalit Traveler.” There are two currently open and 25 more scheduled to open in the next five years.
