London’s Jumeirah Carlton Tower to Get a Renovation

From the reopening of the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park to the grand opening of the Belmond Cadogan Hotel in Chelsea, there’s a lot of hotel news out of London recently. The latest? Jumeirah Group has announced a large-scale refurbishment project of Jumeirah Carlton Tower, the luxury hospitality company’s flagship hotel in London, which will close its doors on September 1, 2019 for comprehensive construction work.

No corner of the 17-story building will be overlooked, from the hotel lobby to the rooftop health club. The project is anticipated to take less than a year, with a completion date of summer 2020. What’s in store? In the official press release, Jumeirah describes an “enriched guest arrival experience” and “the creation of a celebrity destination restaurant on Sloane Street.” What’s more, the health club overlooking Cadogan Gardens will get a makeover, along with a new spa, complete with the 65-foot pool.

When it comes to the guest rooms and suites, expect an entirely new luxury experience designed by 1508 London. For one thing, the rooms will be more spacious, with the room inventory reduced from 216 to 188 rooms. Expect a new category of Signature Suites and Junior Suites with killer views of the London skyline and the Cadogan Place Gardens. The design studio is taking inspiration from modernist architecture and the Carlton Tower’s London location.

When the five-star hotel first opened in 1961 as the Carlton Tower, it was the tallest hotel in London, towering over Knightsbridge. Today it’s part of Jumeriah’s international collection of 24 luxury hotels, including the legendary Burj Al Arab Jumeirah in Dubai.
