Mandarin Oriental to Donate 10% of Gift Card Sales to COVID Fund

To honor and support the first responders who are helping to fight the battle against COVID-19 around the world, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will be donating 10 percent of online gift card sales to the United Nations Foundation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund in support of the World Health Organization, up to $20,000. The initiative launches May 5 on #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of giving and unity in response to the COVID-19 crisis, and continues through May 31, 2020.

The COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund supports the World Health Organization’s (WHO) effort to track and understand the spread of the virus, ensure patients get the care they need and frontline workers get essential supplies and information, and to accelerate research and development of a vaccine and treatment for all who need them.

Mandarin Oriental gift cards can be redeemed at any of brands 33 properties around the world and can be used toward a future stay, spa treatments, dining experiences and more. Mandarin Oriental gift cards never expire, so the recipient may redeem when the time is right.

Giving Tuesday is usually held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, but #GivingTuesdayNow is an initiative to support COVID-19 emergency response. Other ideas, as part of the initiative, include donating supplies to healthcare workers, giving to nonprofits you support, buying gift cards from small businesses, and combating loneliness by reaching out to neighbors, relatives, seniors or veterans. The “normal” Giving Tuesday will still take place this December 1.
