Changes are afoot at Munich’s grande dame, the 160-year-old Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski, a landmark on the famous Maximilianstrasse. (It was Maximilian II of Bavaria who commissioned the hotel be built on the boulevard; it’s been part of the Kempinski portfolio since 1970.) As part of its big birthday celebrations last year, the hotel launched a new Cigar Lounge in partnership with Max Zechbauer, the renowned cigar supplier. And, now, the historic hotel continues the party by unveiling its Royal Wing and the all-new Maximilian Suite.
Situated on the top floor of the hotel, the Royal Wing comprises more than 6,025 square feet and can be divided into seven bedrooms. The Maximilian Suite is the crowning achievement—an opulent pad decorated by designer Colin Finnegan (FG Stijl). Design details include Roman-inspired mosaics in the bathroom and a tapestry woven from fine white leather which hangs above the headrest in the bedroom. There’s a walk-in closet, beautiful bathroom, butler’s kitchen, bedroom and living/dining area for entertaining your guests.
But the highlight is the large rooftop terrace, from where you can take in views of Munich’s Old Town and city landmarks like the “Old Peter” Church, the Old and New Town Halls, the Church of Our Lady, the National Theatre, the Theatinerkirche and the Bavarian State Chancellery. It’s possible to reserve the Maximilian Suite alone, or the Maximilian Suite coupled with an adjoining Deluxe Junior Suite, or the entire Royal Wing in exclusivity.
