Starwood's Luxury Collection has a new mamber: The Chatwal in New York. The hotel hopes that Starwood's vast reservation system and marketing will help out the luxury hotel and give it more visibility. There are more than 75 Luxury Collection hotels in 30 countries, but none had been in New York until The Chatwal, Crain's reports.
"Our feeling is that Starwood will make a huge difference in boosting reservations and it will help us get a better room rate," said Sant Singh Chatwal, chairman and CEO of Hampshire Hotels & Resorts. His son, Vikram Chatwal, runs The Chatwal, along with other hotels Dream, Night and Time, also in New York. Wyndham Worldwide recently signed a deal to franchise the three boutique hotels.
The 83-room Chatwal opened last September and has such touches as a spa and popular Lambs Club restaurant, run by celebrity chef Geoffrey Zakarian.
