Oceania Cruises Delays Riviera's Maiden Voyage

Oceania Cruises has announced the delay of the departure date for the maiden voyage of Riviera, its latest line launching next April, 10 days later than originally planned. The Riviera now will be scheduled to sail on April 24, 2012 from Athens.

The reason behind this rescheduling was to allow additional time for staff members to become familiar with the Riviera’s facilities and to fine-tune required details to deliver a topnotch experience for the new ship’s first passengers.

The new maiden voyage will be now a 12-day "Ancient Grandeur" itinerary that visits Alexandria and Port Said, Haifa and Ashdod (Jerusalem), Alanya, Rhodes, Patmos, and Kusadasi (Ephesus) before ending with an overnight stay onboard ship in Istanbul.

Guests who were booked on the original 10-night voyage will be moved to the new, longer sailing schedule at no additional cost. Guests will also receive a $250 per guest shipboard credit as a gesture of goodwill from Oceania Cruises.

On the contrary, guests who prefer to take a different voyage instead can book any other Oceania itinerary and receive a $250 per guest future cruise credit. In the event that guests wish to cancel, they will obtain a full refund. Travel agent commissions will be protected.
