Omni Hotels & Resorts Unveils New Cocktails Menu

Omni Hotels & Resorts unveiled its Flavor Origins cocktail menu last week. Luxury Travel Advisor visited Bathtub Gin in New York City for the launch event.

Devin Burns, vice president, food and beverage at Omni Hotels & Resorts, says the speakeasy-style bar was ideal for the announcement. "We wanted to choose a venue that was interesting, that was a little unexpected to match the bar menu, that was also about discovery and going beneath what the obvious elements are of the cocktail experience," said Burns.

Inside the pleasantly quirky speakeasy (with a bathtub literally at its center), guests were welcomed with a drink sampling game. Testing palates, tasters had to categorize the cocktails based on their characteristics.

The Flavor Origins selection is designed to get to the heart of the cocktail itself, shifting the focus away from spirits and towards experiences. The drinks at each station fell into several categories.

  • Comforting
  • Light & Refreshing
  • Adventurous
  • Strong & Aromatic

Jeremy Cooper, vice president of operations for Omni Hotels & Resorts, says the drinks were concocted to challenge a sophisticated pallet to think about cocktails differently. "If you are always a gin person, maybe look at tequila. If you are always a vodka person, maybe look at a whisky. And this would help to categorize it by spirit, but also by flavor profile, by experience, and what they want to experience at that time, and what we could deliver to them," Cooper said.

The new selection is being launched company-wide, now through the month of May. It will be available at all 60 hotels from June 2019 until May 2020. More information on the new cocktail selection is available here
