One Aldwych in London Preps to Unveil Renovation

On January 8, One Aldwych closed its doors to refurbish its lobby and public spaces. This temporary closure is part of a larger renovation of the contemporary luxury hotel, which first opened in Covent Garden a little more than 20 years ago. Occupying an important Edwardian building that dates to 1907, when it housed The Morning Post newspaper, the property is one of the few independent hotels in London.

One Aldwych recruited British designer Robert Angell, whose award-winning projects include The Berkeley Hotel and The Savoy in London, to give the rooms and suites a makeover. The idea is to create the ambiance of an elegant, modern residence with a contemporary new look and all the latest technology and in-room comforts. Four new suites will be added to the overall room count (a total of 86 rooms and 16 suites), in order to offer more space and greater flexibility for families or groups of friends traveling together.

The public spaces are being redesigned by Fabled Studio. The hotel entrance, reception, Lobby Bar, Indigo restaurant and event spaces will all show off the results of a makeover. This transformation project follows the recent refurbishment of the gym, along with the launch of the Eneko Basque Kitchen & Bar, which serves creative modern Basque dishes by celebrated chef Eneko Atxa.
