One-on-One: Pacific Delight Tours Unveils Silver Experience

NEW YORKPacific Delight Tours' exclusive Gold Experience has garnered recognition among elite travelers for years, but has only targeted a very specific type of traveler. In an effort to reach a new price point, the tour company has unveiled its brand new Silver Experience. Travel Agent sat down with Larry Kwan, president of Pacific Delight Tours to find out more.

"The Silver Experience itineraries are similar to the Gold ones, but guests will stay at four-star properties," Kwan said. "Four-star properties in China are above and beyond those anywhere else, but this is about reaching a new price point."

For those Silver travelers who still want that extra shot of luxe, Pacific Delight offers upgrade ability on everything from room categories to preferential seating at shows. The Silver Experience is ready and waiting to be booked.

Kwan tells us that 2011 is on track to be even better than 2010: "2010 had an increase in sales, but it was challenging and sluggish. The first part of 2011 should be good," Kwan said. Already the company is seeing a 30 to 40 percent increase in year-over-year sales from this time last year, with China bookings bringing in the most business.

This year's product line offers new itineraries to the Yunan Province and the Mekong River. When we spoke with Kwan at USTOA in December, he told us that he was interested in expanding his product to more off-the-beaten-path destinations such as Bhutan. "We are still looking into expanding into exotic areas, but these destinations are highly specialized and cater to a specific traveler. But we are interested," he told Travel Agent.

For agents interested in selling Pacific Delight Tours, the company is offering two fam trips in March.
