Omni Hotels & Resorts Golf Courses Plans Renovations

The Omni Hotels & Resorts Golf Collection has announced renovations and improvements to three of its courses and one of its clubhouses. The renovations will be at two of Omni’s historic properties – the Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Virginia, and Omni Bedford Springs in Bedford, Pennsylvania.

Arriving in summer of 2017 will be the new clubhouse at Omni Bedford Springs, which will have an architectural design that reflects the resort, a National Historic Landmark that was established in 1804. The 5,000 square foot clubhouse will offer a restaurant, gold shop, and indoor and outdoor viewing areas of the Old Course, the American classic designed by Spencer Oldham, A.W. Tillinghast and Donald Ross.

The Omni Homestead is revamping its Cascades Course, designed by architect William S. Flynn in the 1920s. Most of the renovations will include tree removal in key areas to better display the creeks that run along fairways while affecting strategy and shot selection throughout the layout. Since the courses annual winter closure has taken place for 2016, renovations have begun on the Cascades Course as well as the Old Course, the nation’s oldest first tee in continuous use (completed by Flynn in 1892). Both courses are scheduled to reopen April 7, 2017.

The Omni Orlando is also set to undergo renovations during 2017, though it’s recently completed the first of the property’s renovations. Next on the itinerary is an upgrade to the National Course. The renovation is part of a multi-faceted, $40 million expansion of the luxury destination. The resort’s renovation will include building 93 new guest-room complexes, well-suited for golf groups, families and group trips. The new site will include new amenities such as a mini-golf course. Already finished is the renovation at Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate, which is home to two championship Greg Norman-designed courses as well as the world headquarters of The Leadbetter Golf Academy. The International Course has since reopened for the winter season after undergoing a restoration of all 18 greens and greenside bunker complexes, which have now been returned to their original sizes, looks and feels.
