Ruinart Creates Pop-Up Suite at Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo

Restaurants by Joël Robuchon, a spa by Givenchy, a garden pool concept by Karl Lagerfeld and now a signature suite by Maison Ruinart… To stand out in the crowded field of Monaco’s luxury hotels, Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo has teamed up with top talent over the years to distinguish its amenities; the latest partnership is with Maison Ruinart, the prestigious champagne house, which is taking over the signature Suite Azur until August 31, 2019.

The Maison Ruinart is known for its long-time support of contemporary artists, naming artists of the year (like Liu Bolin and Jaume Plensa) who are given “carte blanche” to create original works demonstrating links between contemporary art and the world of champagne. This year, Ruinart awarded Brazilian artist Vik Muniz with the honor, and it’s Muniz who reimagined the suite after his artistic residency in Reims. Encompassing more than 1,075 square feet, the Suite Azur is decorated with works that reflect champagne’s links with nature. Muniz incorporated natural elements like blackened wood, charcoal and chardonnay leaves to express Ruinart’s connection to its terroir, the craftsmen to their vines.

The Suite Azur is located on the ground floor of the hotel, with views of the Casino Gardens framed through enormous windows. Guests of the suite get access to a private cabana at Odyssey, the pool by Karl Lagerfeld, where a private butler will offer complimentary drinks and snacks. Nice perk: For each reservation of the Ruinart-designed Suite Azur, guests will get an exclusive invitation to Reims for a private tour of the crayères, the ancient underground cellars that are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site (valid for four people).
