Upcoming New York Hotel Names General Manager

The Refinery Hotel, a historic hat factory-turned-hotel scheduled to open this fall, has named Randy Taormina as general manager.

As general manager, Taormina will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of management and operations for Refinery, including oversight of staff, recruitment and development, training, scheduling, preparation of annual budgets and guest satisfaction.

Taormina most recently worked as general manager at the Doubletree by Hilton in Syracuse, N.Y. Before that, he worked for more than eight years for Lodgian Inc. as a general manager in Dallas, Phoenix, Denver and Pittsburgh, and with brands like Marriott, Hilton and IHG. At the age of 24, he became the youngest general manager in the Lodgian Inc. 90-hotel portfolio and was operating some of the highest revenue-generating hotels in the company. Taormina started his hospitality career in Hilton Head, South Carolina, where he served as food & beverage director and assistant general manager at resorts across the island.

Refinery Hotel will become the newest hotel in New York’s Fashion District when it opens this fall on 38th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues in what was originally built as a high-end millinery factory and tea salon in 1913. We hear the hotel will have loft-like guestrooms with an "industrial-chic" design and 12-foot ceilings. We're most excited about the 3,500-square-foot rooftop public space with views of the Empire State Building. Visit www.refineryhotelnewyork.com for more information.
