Titanic Belfast: Northern Ireland’s Biggest Visitor Attraction

Titanic BelfastGet ready, Belfast. Come April 2012, a new visitor attraction will be attracting crowds to Northern Ireland. Currently under construction, the Titanic Belfast is an exhibition center and museum built on the same site where the doomed ship was constructed by Belfast shipbuilder Harland and Wolff over a century ago. The building itself is shaped like the hulls of four ships, scaled to resemble the actual size of the Titanic, and clad in aluminum panels that reflect the sun like a watery mirror. It's located in Titanic Quarter, Europe's largest urban regeneration project.

Sprawling across six floors, the Titanic Belfast will tell the story of the ship through a range of exhibitions, interactive galleries and a “journey” through the busy shipyard, recreated as it was in 1911, and through the stunning passenger cabins on the "unsinkable" ship. There will also be an Ocean Exploration Centre with high definition footage of underwater exploration and the ship where she rests.

As the largest man-made tourist attraction in Northern Ireland, the Titanic Belfast will have a serious wow factor. Not just because of the scale of the building, but also because of the state-of-the-art technology used to take the visitor on a voyage through the real sights, smells, and sounds of the Titanic story.

Noteworthy for business travelers: The Titanic Belfast will offer some dazzling conference, banqueting and event space on the top floor of the building.
