Open-Air Opera at the Doge’s Palace in Venice

Doge's Palace, VeniceTraveling to Venice this summer? Don’t miss an extraordinary cultural event: the Fenice Theatre will be staging three open-air opera performances of Giuseppe Verdi’s “Otello” for the first time in 40 years. The setting couldn’t be more magical- inside the Doge’s Palace in St. Mark’s Square. Conducted by maestro Myung-Whun Chung, the opera will take place on July 10, 14 and 17. (The performance lasts two hours.)

Back in the 1960's, "Otelllo" was frequently performed in this courtyard. The theatre is renewing the tradition of open-air opera to celebrate Verdi’s 200th birthday. For more information, visit www.teatrolafenice.it.
