The Sereno Group of St. Barth's Fame to Open Hotel on Lake Como

We’re big fans of Le Sereno—the sexy beachfront hotel on the French Caribbean isle of St. Barth—so this latest piece of news is music to our ears. The hotel owners have announced plans to open a waterfront property in 2013 on Lake Como—another of the world’s most exclusive destinations. Here’s the quote from the official press release: "St. Barth and Lake Como are two of the most beautiful travel destinations in the world, which is why it’s a natural extension for us to create a new property in Lake Como," says owner Luis Contreras.”

Dressed by red-hot designer Christian Liaigre, Il Sereno, Lago di Como will have 30 generously sized guest rooms overlooking the lake. Botanist Patrick Blanc, famous for inventing the “vertical garden," will also work on the project. The hotel will reflect abundant design references to Lake Como’s culture and history. (Lake Como has been a sybarite’s playground from ancient Roman times; apparently Pliny the Younger said he could fish in the lake from the window of his room “almost from his bed.”) One of the hotel’s best features: a floating pool suspended over the lake.
