The soon-to-open Conrad Bora Bora Nui has recently announced its appointment of Jean-Marc Michel as the resorts General Manager. Michel will be in charge of resort operations and management, as well as overseeing the resorts multi-million dollar re-imagination project.

Michel brings more than 30 years of experience in the hotel industry to Conrad Bora Bora Nui, having worked in seven different countries among three different continents. The multilingual Switzerland native has worked in management positions at seven different Leading Hotels of the World properties, including holding general manager positions at Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort & Spa, Kempinski Seychelles Resort, Le Mirador Kempinski Lake Geneva and Constance Ephelia Resort Seychelles.

The Conrad Bora Bora Nui renovations won’t be Michel’s first experience with rebuilding; while in Kota Kinabalu, Michel led the resort’s expansion and renovation of guest facilities, as well as the Dalit Bay Gold and Country Club, Kota Kinabalu.

Set to open in March of 2017, the small luxury resort in a private cove on Motu To’opua (a small islet located off the coast of Bora Bora) will offer 28 tropical garden and beach villas, in addition to 86 overwater bungalows, including Bora Bora’s only two-story overwater bungalows. Other amenities will include a full-service Hina spa, a private kids club, mini-golf course, six onsite restaurant and bar outlets including an overwater, glass-floor sunset lounge and a private island for intimate dinners, picnics and events.

Michel began his career with a culinary apprenticeship in Switzerland, where he then later graduated from Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne. Since then, he has developed as a hospitality industry professional through high-end positions at properties around the world such as the One&Only Le Saint Geran Mauritius, Reid’s Palace Madeira (an Orient-Express property) and a variety of other locations in the West Indies, Malta, France and Switzerland.

In a statement about the resorts incoming general manager, Conrad Bora Bora Nui owner Louis Wane said “we are thrilled to welcome Jean-Marc to the Conrad Bora Bora Nui team as our general manager.” He also added, “his impressive hospitality background, worldly pedigree and expertise in delivering exceptional resort experiences, make him the ideal person to lead the resort during this exciting grand opening and for many years to come.”
