London is Calling With New Campaign

A new campaign, #LondonIsOpen has launched to show that London is united and open for business, following the EU referendum.

Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London

The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, is urging businesses and organizations to show their support by using the hashtag on social media and in other creative ways.

The new campaign kicked off last week in front of a 65,000-person crowd at Stevie Wonder’s London Hyde Park concert.  Other stars are also supporting the campaign, including Jude Law, Jarvis Cocker, Corrine Bailey Rae and more.

However, it’s not just stars using the hashtag. Business leaders are also showing solidarity, including Richard Branson, City of London policy chairman Mark Boleat, and chief executive of London stock exchange Xavier Rolet

Travelers will see the campaign at major events and London attractions this summer. One such event will be International Busking Day in Trafalgar Square, which is a large celebration complete with street performances.  During this celebration, on July 23, London will collaborate with 50 locations across the UK and 40 international cities.

"We don’t simply tolerate each other’s differences, we celebrate them. Many people from all over the globe live and work here, contributing to every aspect of life in our city,” said Khan in a release. “We now need to make sure that people across London, and the globe, hear that #LondonIsOpen. I urge everyone to get involved with this simple but powerful campaign to send a positive message to the world.”
