London Hotel Rates are Most Expensive in Europe

Looking for the city in Europe with the heftiest price tag? New research by HRS shows that London takes the cake as Europe's most expensive capital to stay in, according to Breaking Travel News. (Note: Another UK city, Edinburgh, ranks second.)

The article reports that average room rates in London reach nearly $218, placing London ahead of Paris and Copenhagen.

UK hotel rates have increased overall in the past year, which is reflective of a growing UK economy. "Thanks to the economic recovery, tourism is picking up again and this is reflected in the price increase of hotel rooms in the capital," John West, managing director of HRS for the UK and Ireland tells Breaking Travel News

After London, the largest increase in room rates was seen in Lisbon, Copenhagen and Amsterdam
