This past weekend, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. broke ground on Solaz, a Luxury Collection Resort, Los Cabos. The new resort is set to span across 33 acres. Solaz, owned by Quinta del Golfo de Cortez, Sa de CV, will have several amenities and accommodation styles, including a spa, residences, vacation ownership units, a private beach club and 131 guestrooms. The resort will be created out of five six-floor buildings, and each room is set to have ocean views and outdoor terraces. Many of the rooms will come with Jacuzzis (perfect for honeymooners) and the two-bedroom Presidential Suite will have a private swimming pool.

This will be Starwood’s first Luxury Collection hotel in Los Cabos. However, Solaz will be the brand’s seventh hotel in Mexico. Solaz is slated to open in June 2017.

“As an architectural sculpture that pays tribute to the contemporary art of Mexico, Solaz will be the perfect fit for The Luxury Collection brand,” said Patricio del Portillo, director of development and acquisitions for Mexico and Central America, Starwood Hotels & Resorts. “It is designed to immerse our discerning global guests and residents in the indigenous beauty of the destination, while delivering the unparalleled luxury service the brand is known for.”

As for dining experiences, the new member of the Luxury Collection will have three restaurant options, including an all-day dining option, a specialty restaurant, and a poolside grill. Guests will have access to tennis courts, 9,900 square feet of meeting space and a spa and fitness area.
