Luxury Agents Can Attend Destination Summit in Austria

Heads up, Austria-philes! For the second time since 2010, the Austrian Tourist Office will invite top leisure travel advisors from the United States and Australia to participate in the Austria Destination Summit. The program will take place in Salzburg and Vienna from October 19-25.

The Austria Destination Summit provides an in-depth exploration of Austria’s leisure product, with a strong focus on the luxury segment. Starting off in Salzburg with a welcome reception, the program includes a tour of the Hohensalzburg Fortress and a dinner looking over the baroque Old Town. The entire next day will be dedicated to discussing the latest trends in travel and networking. The “Austria Destination Day” includes a thorough educational program with top marketing executives from the Tirol, the Ötz Valley, Kitzbühel, Innsbruck, Salzburg City and Salzburg State, Graz and Vienna.

Participants will then take a tour of Salzburg city, the Salzburg Lake District and even a Sound of Music Tour. Continuing along the Danube, the group will sample Austrian wines at the Loisium Wine & Spa resort and meet some of the country’s most successful winemakers. A visit to the castle ruins in Duernstein and a private Danube Cruise are also part of the program.

The Vienna portion of the program includes a visit to the Naschmarkt (Vienna’s year-round food market); a stop at the MuseumsQuartier (MQ), one of the ten largest cultural complexes in the world; and a glimpse of the Lipizzaner stallions during training at the Spanish Riding School. The program also includes on-site visits to the participating luxury properties – Hotel Sacher Wien, Hotel Ritz-Carlton, Hotel Bristol, Hotel Imperial Wien, Le Meridien, Sofitel Vienna and Palais Hansen Kempinski.

The grand finale consists of a Gala Evening Program - 200 years of the Viennese Waltz - at the Hofburg (Imperial Palace).

The Austria Destination Summit will include a total of 60 travel advisors and is by invite only. Luxury Travel Advisors with a strong focus on Europe can contact Gabriele Wolf, manager product innovation at the Austrian Tourist Office, at [email protected], for more information.
