Today, Thompson Hotels opened the Thompson Chicago. Located right along the Windy City's Gold Coast, the 247-room hotel has top views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline.
Why are we excited to see this new hotel? Lots of reasons: All of the hotel’s residential-style rooms and suites have modern art and a fully stocked minibar. The bathrooms have rain shower heads and natural bath and spa products by REN. Tech touches include bedside lighting controls, nightstands with built-in USB chargers and an in-room entertainment system by Tangerine. Coolest tech detail of all: Each room has its own ISP address and functions as its own hotspot. (Wi-Fi is, of course, free up to 1mg.) complimentary car service to downtown Chicago.
Foodies will also be in luck: Nico Osteria will serve Italian seafood prepared by Chef Erling Wu-Bower under the direction of James Beard “Outstanding Chef” Award-winner Paul Kahan. The restaurant will serve house-made pastas, fresh seafood and crudos. Nico Osteria will open in December 2013, and seat 108 guests indoors, with additional outdoor seating on the sidewalk terrace.
Thompson Chicago will also be a top venue for upscale events and functions with 12,225 square feet of flexible event space for up to 250 guests. Catering menus for events are under the direction of Nico Osteria’s Chef Wu-Bower. Private dining rooms with reception areas, as well as six two-level Thompson Loft Suites are also available to host special events, meetings and cocktail receptions. Alternative option: Three Thompson Loft Suites have private outdoor terraces, offering top city and lake views.
