Inside the New W Punta de Mita

W Hotels Worldwide's recently opened the W Punta de Mita, the company's second hotel in Mexico. The hotel will be W Hotels’ 48th hotel worldwide and its fifth in Central America. It also serves as its 10th W Escape hotel, the company’s modern approach to leisure travel, focusing on lifestyle and design.

Local Culture-Inspired Design: References to the area’s surf, historical, and spiritual culture decorate the walls, floors, and just about everywhere else throughout the hotel. A 450-foot long blue and green mosaic Camino Huichol walkway is meant to mimic the Pacific Ocean, as it runs throughout the hotel out onto the WET Deck. A Huichol statue, standing nine feet tall, greets guests at the entrance. Lucha Libre masks are incorporated into wall designs, as are colorful animal masks.

Living Room: W Hotel’s spin on the lobby. The Living Room was inspired by a palapa and boasts six large couches on three descending tiers with a rectangular bar at the base. LED-lit candles hang from the ceiling, paying homage to church votive candles. Each day, they ring a gong to notify the guests of sundown, as the living room offers a view over the WET Deck to the Pacific Ocean.

WET Deck: Adorned with a pool, lounge chairs, private VIP cabanas, an open grill and bar, and DJ booth. Just past the WET Deck are sandy beaches, almost blending perfectly with deck. The Camino Huichol walkway ends above the WET Deck, which can be used for private events, dining, and even fashion shows.

Guest Rooms: Each of W Punta de Mita’s guest rooms are uniquely decorated and come with surfboard or punctured tin headboards. Vintage photographs of historical figures decorate the walls, while the suites additionally offer private patios or balconies. The Ocean Escape and Jungle Escape Villas are designed to highlight nature, offering views of the ocean and forest. The Extreme WOW Suite is over 4,400 square feet and boasts two bedrooms and a pool.

Dining: W Punta de Mita’s dining options include:
Chevicheria: A converted 1950s Chevrolet truck that which serves ceviche and craft beers.
Spice Market: W’s signature restaurant. Asian-inspired food that’s served family-style for all to enjoy.
Venazu: Multiple seating arrangements include a cabana and a hammock. Guests can also prepare their own meal.
Mesa1: This island-dining space is for private groups only, and must be booked through reservations. Up to 18 people can enjoy an individually curated seven-course meal from a private chef.

AWAY Spa: The 4,000 square-foot spa is designed to feel like a forest cave. Inside, the treatment rooms can be opened for group events or closed for individual or couples messages. They also have glass floors with fish ponds below. Outdoor, a natural spring water pool and large fig trees growing through the deck complete the feeling of being in nature.

Wave Surf Shop: Available to guests are plenty of non-motorized water sports, including: watersports such as surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, and kitesurfing.
