Morgans Hotel Group is making moves in Manhattan.
We hear that perched atop Mondrian SoHo, guests can now find Sonny's Soda Shoppe, a rooftop gelateria and cocktail bar. The new hotspot, which opened last Thursday, draws inspiration from the Italian beach resort Forte Dei Marmi, complete with an outdoor gelato stand by il Laboratoria del Gelato, Italian cocktails, homemade Sicilian pizza and a 30-foot mural of the Italian coast. Guests can sip late-night cocktails while listening to live music or a line-up o fDJs.
Farther uptown, Morgans aficionados will find the Reserve at Morgans, a classic hotel lounge that is mixing up craft cocktails. Specializing in brown liquors (think Scotch, Whiskey and Bourbon), Reserve has over 120 labels and a list of cocktails. Paying tribute to the world's first cocktail, Reserve will offer 216 varieties of the classic Old Fashioned. It will also feature an Old-Fashioned Dice Game, where if a guest is unable to decide which cocktail to order, they can roll three different color die that will dictate the spirit, sweetener and bitters.
