Now Open: Denver's The Art Hotel

the art hotelArt buffs have a new reason to check out Denver with this past June's opening of The Art Hotel, a 165-room boutique hotel that's drawing buzz with a series of installations spanning a veritable "who's who" of modern art.

The hotel, which is a member of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts LVX Collection, displays a collection of more than 40 pieces representing notable names like Claus Oldenberg, Tracey Emin, John Baldessari, Ed Rucha, Leo Villareal and Sol LeWitt. Many of the pieces have been commissioned specifically for the hotel.

The highlight? Upon arriving, guests are greeted by a custom 22,000 LED lightbulb installation by Leo Villareal, the mind behind the "Bay Lights" installation on the San Francisco Bay Bridge.

For foodies, the hotel's Fire restaurant serves locally-focused American fare by Chef Chris Jakubiec. Accommodations range from 133 kings and 12 doubles to 20 suites, with each guestroom floor inspired by the look of an individual artist.
