Revamped Greek Isles Cruises From Windstar

ephesusWindstar Cruises has launched a new Greek voyage that sails roundtrip from Athens to the Greek Isles.

The Treasures of the Greek Isles itinerary aboard the 212-passanger Star Pride yacht explores some of the smaller ports of Nafplio, Monemvasia and Patmos along the Aegean Sea, while also visiting the islands of Mykonos and Santorini.

Windstar is also expanding its shore excursion offerings to include visits to nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites, such as a visit to the ruined city of ancient Ephesus. Guests will have time to take in the ancient architecture before a private lunch in Sirince Village in a restored local building, with views overlooking the valley.

Additionally, guests can enjoy a complimentary private event in Ephesus in which they take part in a private candlelit dinner at Celsus Library. The five-course, white-glove-service dinner will be held in the courtyard in front of the Library, with the illuminated façade as an elegant backdrop, accompanied by a trio from the Aegean Chamber Orchestra.

In addition to Windstar’s other Greek sailings, the seven-day “Treasures of the Greek Isles” voyage, which occurs twice in 2016, sets sail on June 9 and September 4, beginning in Athens and continuing on to Nafplio, Mykonos, Kusadasi, Patmos, Santorini, and Monemvasia. The busiest times in the Greek Islands are July–September, peaking August, so the timing of this itinerary is also designed to beat the crowds while still taking advantage of the islands’ warm weather and beaches, Windstar said.
