Richard Leuenberger Named General Manager at Badrutt's Palace Hotel

Badrutt’s Palace Hotel has announced that Richard Leuenberger will be joining its staff as the hotel’s new general manager, beginning in his new position at the start of the upcoming winter season, approximately mid-November. Yves Gardiol, the hotels current general manager, is beginning his new role as the hotel’s chief executive officer.

Leuenberger worked at Badrutt’s Palace Hotel previously over a successful four-year span as the director of food and beverage, until he left in 2011 to work as the executive assistant manager and general manager of Aberdeen Marina Club, the Shangri-la Hotel in Hong Kong.

Currently, Leuenberger works as area director of operations for the Asia Pacific at the Ritz-Carlton Group. The 40-year-old Swiss native has said he’s excited to come “back home” to Badrutt’s Palace Hotel in St. Moritz, together with his wife and children.

The changes within the company come in preparation for the retirement of Hans Wiedemann, Badrutt’s Palace Hotel’s Managing Director & Delegate of the Board. Until his retirement, slated for January of 2018, Wiedemann will continue as before in his role, though with the additional manpower of Leuenberger on the team the hotel is planning for a smooth transition upon Wiedemann’s retirement. Once he retires, Wiedemann will still continue in his position as Delegate of the Board.
