Ritz-Carlton Is Coming to Melbourne

melbourne, australiaHere's a heads-up on a big hotel development in Australia: Melbourne is getting its very own Ritz-Carlton.

The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne, will be the centerpiece of an urban mixed-use project in the central business district, which will include residential apartments and retail shopping. With 250 rooms, the luxury hotel will be the highest in Australia, on floors 64 to 77 of the building with dramatic views from all sides. The project will commence construction next year and is designed to include restaurants and Ritz-Carlton services and facilities.

This hotel marks the second Ritz-Carlton project announced for Austrlia. Last year brought word of plans for the upcoming Ritz-Carlton at Elizabeth Quay in Perth.

Melbourne is the center of a booming arts scene, including the Festival for International Arts, the International Comedy Festival, Fringe Festival, Food and Wine Festival and the Indigenous Arts Festival. The city is also noted for its laneways, areas designed for horses and carts in Victorian times that have been converted to pedestrian plazas since the 1990s.
