AmaWaterways Moves Into Bordeaux

bordeauxAmaWaterways has announced the debut of its first-ever Bordeaux itineraries, set to start in its spring 2016 season.

The line will offer 22 “Taste of Bordeaux” sailings aboard AmaDolce, sailing the Garonne and Dordogne Rivers. Eight of the 22 departures will be special wine-themed voyages, led by top wine experts.

The "Taste of Bordeaux" sailings will travel along the Garonne River and its surrounding estuaries. Travelers will have the opportunity to visit Bordeaux’s famous chateaus and vineyards with stops at Cadillac’s Roquetaillaide Castle, a Medoc wine tasting in Pauillac, an excursion at Chateau de Montaigne in Libourne and more. Those looking to extend their stay can enjoy an optional pre- and / or post-cruise land extension for city tours in Paris and additional chateau visits and wine tastings in the Loire Valley.

For wine connoisseurs, there will be eight wine-themed “Taste of Bordeaux” sailings. Expert wine hosts and sommeliers will lead passengers in onboard lectures, interactive tastings and multi-course menus offering gourmet meals paired with hand-selected vintages. Travelers will also have the opportunity to tour historic wine cellars, learn about winemaking and sample local epicurean traditions.

AmaDolce has custom staterooms with french balconies, an entertainment system that includes complimentary wireless Internet access, first run Hollywood movies and a full music library. The ship also has two dining venues, a lobby bar, and a Sun Deck with a walking track and whirlpool. Bicycles are also available for guests to enjoy group or self-guided shore excursions.

Travelers who book a “Taste of Bordeaux” sailing now through July 31, 2015, will receive an early booking discount of up to $1,500 per stateroom. Cruise-only pricing starts at $2,899 per person. For the eight wine-themed cruises, cruise-only pricing starts at $3,099 per person.
