Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of the Rosewood Abu Dhabi, an ultra-luxury five-star hotel located on the waterfront of Sowwah Square. The property marks the first presence of the Rosewood Hotels & Resorts brand in the UAE.
A five-star hotel on the waterfront at Sowwah Square, Rosewood Abu Dhabi will feature 189 rooms and suites, 58 serviced residences, 73 residences for long term lease and four penthouses. The 34-story landmark hotel is located on Al Maryah Island (formerly Sowwah Island), in the heart of Abu Dhabi's new central business district (CBD) and features direct climate-controlled links to neighboring Sowwah Square offices, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and The Galleria at Sowwah Square.
The Galleria, a new retail and dining destination with direct access to the hotel, is set to open on the Island in August. Downtown Abu Dhabi, leisure facilities and the airport are also accessible from Al Maryah Island.
Rosewood Abu Dhabi will feature nine signature restaurants and lounges; eight conference and event spaces, including a ballroom which will accommodate up to 1,000 guests; pool and gym facilities; and Sense, A Rosewood Spa.
The property’s interiors will feature such materials as Italian marble, a bespoke four-meter American walnut table, and custom and hand-blown chandeliers from the Czech Republic featured throughout the hotel. Rosewood Abu Dhabi’s architecture represents the brand’s “A Sense of Place” philosophy, boasting Arabic influences.
Rosewood Abu Dhabi’s staff is dressed by Domenico Vacca, who designed the official hotel uniform.
Under the helm of executive chef Wolfgang Eberle, Rosewood Abu Dhabi will have nine restaurants and lounges, including Catalan, offering cuisine from the Barcelona and north-eastern region of Spain; Sambusek, a Lebanese restaurant; Smoke, a shisha terrace; Aqua, which will offer Italian and Mediterranean dishes; Spice Mela, a contemporary restaurant serving Pan-Indian cuisine; La Cava, a grape cellar with a walk-in cigar room; Glo, the bar lounge; the intimate Hidden Bar; and the Majlis lobby lounge.
In addition to Rosewood Hotel Abu Dhabi, Sowwah Square, the heart of Abu Dhabi’s new CBD is comprised of four Grade “A” commercial towers, a second hotel offering and The Galleria at Sowwah Square, a fashion and dining district connecting the entire mixed-use development to the waterfront.
Rosewood Abu Dhabi is the fourth Middle East property managed by Rosewood, including Al Faisaliah Hotel and Hotel Al Khozama in Riyadh and Rosewood Corniche in Jeddah.
