La Samanna Revamps for High Season

Guests checking into La Samanna on St. Martin are in for a treat. The Orient-Express resort recently reopened after an extensive renovation of all guest rooms and suites. The new look is contemporary and clean, with white flooring, counter tops, and furnishings complemented by colorful Caribbean accents on the decorative pillows and lamps. The design was actually inspired by the hotel’s original guest rooms from 1972.

Rooms are now adorned with original etchings by Sir Roland Richardson, the resident artist at La Samanna for the past decade, who has been named the “Father of Caribbean Impressionism” in his depiction of scenes of old St. Martin. Other art includes watercolors by Antoine Chapon, a French painter who settled on St. Martin in 1981.

Nestled on an exclusive beach facing Baie Longue and surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, La Samanna has a spa and provides a slew of recreational activities, and gourmet cuisine paired with top-notch wines. (Le Reservé restaurant won Wine Spectator’s 2010 “Best of Award of Excellence.”) For more information, luxury travel advisors can contact the Director of Sales and Marketing Darrick Eman ([email protected]; 212-764- 8220).
