The Caledonian, Edinburgh will be Scotland’s First Waldorf Astoria Hotel

The Caledonian, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel in EdinburghHilton Worldwide’s luxury brand is making a foray into Scotland. When The Caledonian completes its $32 million renovation in summer 2012, the hotel will be rebranded as a Waldorf Astoria hotel. Centrally located on Princess Street in the heart of town, the Caledonian Hilton Edinburgh Hotel has a reputation as Sir Sean Connery’s favorite digs in town.

The hotel currently has 241 rooms overlooking the Edinburgh Castle, the Ocean Rooms spa, a health club with a heated indoor pool, and a restaurant with equally impressive castle views. The makeover will refurbish all areas of the hotel—from the rooms to the spa and restaurant. Even though the fitness club and spa are now closed until September, and the parking garage is not accessible, the hotel is still accepting guests with minimal disruptions to their stay.
