Harrods to Open New York Branch?

Here's some exciting news for New York's fashion scene: Vogue is reporting that Manhattan may get its own branch of the iconic London department store Harrods. The chairman of the company's executive board, Ahmad Al-Sayed told the fashion bible that the company is still looking to open a "long-mooted" Harrods hotel. 

Harrods is reportedly eyeing potential locations in the Big Apple as well as "other prime cities," Al-Sayed said, noting that whatever new store opened, it would not be a replica of the Knightsbridge original. (The Harrods branch at Heathrow's new Terminal Two, however, will "recreate the opulence" of the original.) 

Women's Wear Daily noted that since Qatar Holding, a global investment house founded by the Qatar Investment Authority, bought Harrods in 2010, the firm has invested £250 million in a range of projects, and Al-Sayed said that more developments.
