Sneak Peek: Shangri-La Paris Opens Three Terraces for Summer

Want to make the most of a summer visit to the City of Light? Head to the Shangri-La Hotel, Paris and grab a seat at one of its three outdoor terraces. Each terrace has a different schedule for the season, as well as different perks.

Open July 12 through August 6, the hotel's Rooftop Lounge will serve Krug Champagne and caviar from the terrace of La Suite Shangri-La on the seventh floor. This is a top pick for views over  the Eiffel Tower and the Seine. (Note: This terrace is usually reserved for guests in the suite.) Bonus: The terrace will also have prime views of the fireworks for Bastille Day on July 14.

Each evening from 5 to 11.30 p.m., a small number of guests will be able to taste a variety of Krug Champagne vintage accompanied by Petrossian Caviar. Reservations can be made at 011-33-1-53-67-19-98 starting June 15.

The Rooftop Lounge, some Champagne and a perfect view.

Open June 2 through mid-September, La 8 Iéna, located in front of the hotel and directly accessible from Avenue d'Iéna, will have a special ice cream trolley and a menu designed by Executive Chef Philippe Labbé. We hear the menu will include light salads, such as mixed salad with crab meat and grapefruit, French and Asian dishes and the Chef's creation, the Asian-Style Burger: a Cantonese-style duck and crab hamburger. Pastry Chef François Perret, meanwhile, has created some sweeter options like the strawberry salad with mint jelly.

An ice-cream trolley, specially created for La 8 Iena, will be a major attraction of the terrace. The trolley will have a range of homemade ice-creams and sorbets, including peaches poached with currant juice and verbena or raspberries and fresh strawberries.

La 8 Iéna will be open from noon to 10:30 p.m. (late lunch menu available in the afternoon).

La 8 Iéna

Open July 10 through September 7, the Summer Terrace will have uninterrupted Eiffel Tower views and will serve Belvedere cocktails specially created by the hotel's head barman. We hear the terrace’s flagship cocktail will be the Asian Dry Belvedere, made with Belvedere Unfiltered, lemon juice, a dose of dry vermouth infused with rose, lotus, litchi tea and sugar.

The summer terrace, on the first floor of the hotel, will be open daily to the public from 4 to 11:30 p.m. No reservations are accepted, so get there early!

We're not sure which is prettier: The cocktails or the Tower.
