There’s been a lot of buzz about the duo of Anantara hotels slated to open in Sri Lanka this year, training the spotlight on the country’s incredible natural beauty and culture. Anantara Tangalle Peace Haven Resort & Spa was listed by CNN as one of “11 hotels opening in 2015 we can't wait to check into.” Originally slated for a July 2015 opening, the hotel appears to have pushed back the debut to the fall. (The website is now taking bookings for October 2015.)
Located 50 miles east of the historic fortified city of Galle, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the resort is nestled on a 42-acre coconut plantation overlooking the Indian Ocean on the southern coast. Anantara Tangalle Resort will have 152 rooms and exclusive pool villas in buildings inspired by traditional architecture (think thatched roofs and decorated with hand-carved furniture).
Leisure facilities range from a swimming pool, spa, children’s club, tennis and yoga classes. There will also be a number of high-end dining experiences like colonial-style Afternoon Tea and degustation dinners in the wine cellar.
