Starwood Preferred Guest Adds New Hotel Under Design Hotels Partnership

Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG), the loyalty program now part of Marriott International, Inc., announced the addition of its 100th Design Hotel partner property, The Naka Phuket in Thailand.

The partnership between companies expanded last year, as SPG offered loyalty benefits to member hotels, while giving their own members access to more hotels in more locations – including Iceland, Grenada, and the Ukraine. Design Hotels properties now available to SPG members include: The Waterhouse at South Bund in Shanghai, China; 101 Hotel in Reykjavik, Iceland; Mainport in Rotterdam, The Netherlands; Hotel J in Stockholm, Sweden; Laluna in St. George’s, Grenada; and The Naka Phuket, Casa de la Flora, and The Library in Thailand.

By the end of 2017, the SPG program is expected to include 200 Design Hotels.

The partnership between SPG and Design Hotels can also be combined with Marriott’s reward program to give members even more ways to earn benefits, which include:

  • Two Starpoints per U.S. dollar spent (three Starpoints for Gold Preferred and Platinum Preferred Members)

  • Night and stay credit toward elite status

  • High-speed Internet access and bottled water in-room

  • Gold Preferred and Platinum Preferred Members will automatically receive a Starpoints bonus as their Welcome Gift

  • Free Night redemption

Members of Marriott Rewards and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards, as well as SPG, can link their accounts at www.spg.com/marriott for immediate elite status matching, along with the ability to transfer and redeem points across programs, including stays at select Design Hotels. Members who link their accounts will be able to transfer points at a three-to-one ratio (three Marriott Rewards points = one SPG Starpoint) between the programs for redemption stays.
