Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel Adds New Family Programming

Sumaq Machu Picchu

Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel, located on the banks of the Vilcanota River in Aguas Calientes, has added two new programs that are ideal for young families. Mini Chef Lesson and Time for Andean Tales aim to help children and their families connect with the cultures of Peru and the Andean setting.

Native Peruvians explore Andean legends with the entire family, during Time for Andean Tales. Get the kiddos excited, these stories have been passed down from generation-to-generation and honor the tradition of storytelling. The Mini Chef Lessons can be arranged for children ages seven to 12. In the class, kids will learn to cook with healthy indigenous grains, including kiwicha, maca, purple corn and quinoa. Another cooking class, Pachamanca, will allow the group to learn about the culinary traditions of the Incas. As an added touch, the dishes are cooked, covered with leaves, in an outdoor stone oven. Tip: Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel is closely located to Machu Picchu, allowing guests to visit the site at a more leisurely pace -- perfect for families.
