Tanzania's Essque Zalu Zanzibar to Become Per AQUUM Resort in 2015

Looking to really get away from the snow this winter? Consider the Tanzanian island of Zanzibar, where Minor Hotel Group has just added a new resort to its portfolio.

Currently operating as Essque Zalu Zanzibar, MHG took over the management contract and the property will reopen as a Per AQUUM resort by the end of 2015. Good to know: MHG already operates two spas in Tanzania as well as six properties that are part of Elewana Collection.)

Right on the Indian Ocean, Essque Zalu Zanzibar sits in a natural cove on the north east coast of Zanzibar and has 40 suites and nine three- and four-bedroom villas.

Guests can choose from three distinctive restaurants showcasing fresh local organic produce, a fine dining option and Arabic cuisine served al fresco on the shores of the Indian Ocean. Bonus for art aficionados: The hotel hosts regular art exhibitions showing off paintings, photography and glassworks by local, regional and international artists.

Minor Hotel Group CEO Dillip Rajakarier noted that the company is already working with Musstir on an upcoming property in Salalah, Oman, under the Anantara brand.

"We have stated that our goal is to add at least five properties to Per AQUUM’s portfolio within the next five years, mirroring Minor Hotel Group’s current footprint," he said.
